SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) — this technology provides the same bandwidth in both directions, upstream and downstream. That means whether you're uploading or downloading information, you have the same high-quality performance. SDSL provides transmission speeds within a T1/E1 range, of up to 2 Mbps at a maximum range of 12,000 to 18,000 feet from a central office, over a single-pair copper wire. SDSL is not line sharing, it is data intensive rather than voice intensive, therefore a new line will be installed at the time of the DSL installation as part of the install. SDSL is ideal for business’ who use advanced applications such as intranets, extranets, virtual private networks (VPNs), file transfer, electronic commerce, Web hosting, videoconferencing, collaborative work, multimedia and more. SDSL is an excellent solution for businesses that require fast speeds for both upstream and downstream, but do not need voice service. It uses both paths for data capacity and data rates for both directions are equally fast. Speeds are less than those of ADSL, but both uploading and downloading large files can be accomplished with the same speed.
